BROADCAST PLATFORMS

Online video and broadcast platforms can be grouped into several main types, each serving a different purpose. Social video platforms focus on discovery and engagement through algorithm-driven feeds and are ideal for short-form or highly shareable content. User-generated content platforms provide large-scale hosting and global reach, supporting both long-form and live video while typically integrating advertising-based monetization. Live streaming platforms are designed for real-time delivery and interaction, offering low-latency streaming with features such as live chat and audience participation. Professional online video platforms (OVPs) emphasize control, branding, and analytics, making them suitable for businesses that need secure hosting, monetization options, or internal distribution. Finally, OTT and subscription-based streaming services deliver curated, high-quality content directly to viewers through paid access models, requiring greater investment but offering maximum control over content, revenue, and user experience.

Online video and broadcast platforms differ because they are designed for distinct audiences, technical requirements, and business goals. Some prioritize reach and discovery, others focus on control, monetization, or real-time delivery. Lindgren Media can help you find the right platform based on what you are trying to achieve with your video, who you want to reach, and how much control you need over distribution and revenue.

Owning Your Audience

Broadcast platforms come in every size imaginable. Up to 20 years ago, being a part of a broadcast network meant starting at the bottom and working up through an affiliate station in a local market. Only the chosen few could get a program run on national television, and you had to have some serious connections for that. Today, a college student can run her own broadcast, gather an audience, and generate advertising revenue without ever leaving her apartment. When selecting a distribution platform, a marketing strategy should be considered and implemented before production begins. That said, if production is completed, finding the right fit is still more than likely.

Audiences are endless because there are many platforms. Yet, wonder if you want your own private system? You already have an audience, and you don't want a public system with its limitations and contracts that jeopardize your audience's privacy? Then we will build you your own. In 2016, Lindgren Media was contracted by Recovery Network to create a hybrid broadcast and mobile distribution network for a patient audience in a hospital setting. The system was designed as a hospital's internal, private, and secure network, providing on-demand diagnosis and treatment plans tailored to a patient's educational needs, and a five-channel broadcast integrated into the hospital's existing cable system and separate from its Intranet. The cable channels covered new moms, senior living, cancer care, faith, and the hospital's own channel for guest and patient communications.

Sports facilities, government public-facing offices, live venues, mega churches, and sports bars could all benefit from a private broadcast system to improve communication, education, and entertainment. Our focus in education at Lindgren Media remains on healthcare and other non-profit educational outreach opportunities. All systems are designed in the U.S.
